Our Staff

Starling Richardson’s professional staff has the qualifications and experience to meet your current and future construction and project management needs.

James B. Starling – President, Co-owner
Jim Starling has been working as a construction manager in the North Texas area since 1973. He is responsible for Starling Richardson’s entire core construction operation, including estimating and maintaining a direct involvement in the management of each project. Under Jim’s direction SRC has built many notable facilities in the Dallas area. Jim is a graduate of Texas A&M University.

Joyce Starling was instrumental in the development of Starling Richardson Construction, Inc.

Ted Spears – General Superintendent
Ted Spears is responsible for the supervision of Starling Richardson’s field operations and has been in the North Texas construction industry since 1980. Ted’s professionalism and experience ensures the construction process will be successful for owners, architects and subcontractors alike. Ted’s leadership and commitment to quality is evident in the professional attitude of our superintendents and field personnel as well as the quality of the facilities we build.

Eric Stanaland – Project Manager
Eric Stanaland joined Starling Richardson Construction in August, 2005 and is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in construction science and a minor in business administration. He has worked on Frank Guzick Elementary School for Dallas ISD, Additions and Renovations to Shepton High School, Mathews Elementary School, Aldridge Elementary School, Sigler Elementary School, Jackson Elementary School, and Mendenhall Elementary School for Plano ISD, and North Lake College – North Campus and Eastfield Career Technology Center Expansion for Dallas County Community College District.

Kyle Reist – Project Manager
Kyle Reist started with Starling Richardson Construction in June, 2008 and has a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University. He has worked on Youth Center Additions for Canyon Creek Baptist Church and First Baptist Church Rockwall and his responsibilities include the estimating and management of current projects as well as administering the submittal, shop drawing, purchasing, and close-out document process.

Shady Kennedy – Administrative Assistant
Shady is responsible for payroll and keeping our office process functioning smoothly. Shady has been with Starling Richardson Construction since its inception in 1994. Prior to that Shady was employed by KAS Construction Co., our predecessor company. Shady received her Bachelors Degree from North Texas University.

Kim Scott – Accounting Administrator
Kim Scott has been with Starling Richardson Construction since April, 2006. Her responsibilities include project cost accounting, processing and payment of invoices, issuance of checks to subcontractors and suppliers, establishing temporary services and utilties for project sites, maintaining subcontractor files and required paperwork, and many other various accounting, bonding, and insurance tasks.

Michael D. Smith – Superintendent
Mike Smith has been employed by Starling Richardson Construction, Inc. since January, 2001 and has been in the construction industry since 1980. He has completed projects for First United Methodist Church in Rockwall, Overcoming Faith Christian Center in Arlington, two separate additions at Canyon Creek Baptist Church in Richardson, Additions and Renovations to Baxter Elementary School and Frank Seale Middle School for Midlothian ISD, and Patty and Bo Pilgrim Chapel for Dallas Baptist University.  Mike is currently the superintendent at Jackson Elementary School for Plano ISD.

Larry A. Nelson – Superintendent
Larry Nelson joined Starling Richardson Construction, Inc. in October, 2003 and has been in the construction industry since 1981. He has completed the Additions and Renovations to W.H.L. Wells Elementary School, Shepton High School, Mathews Elementary School, and Aldridge Elementary School for Plano ISD and Additions and Renovations to Maple Lawn Elementary School for Dallas ISD.  Larry is currently the superintendent on First Baptist Church Rockwall Youth Center Addition.

Andy Munoz – Superintendent
Andy Munoz has been employed by Starling Richardson Construction since March, 2007 and has worked in the construction industry throughout the United States since 1985. He has worked on Frank Seale Middle School for Midlothian ISD and North Lake College – North Campus and Eastfield Career Center Expansion for Dallas County Community College.  Andy is currently the Assistant Superintendent at Jackson Elementary School for Plano ISD.

Jim Bagby – Superintendent
Jim Bagby joined Starling Richardson Construction in January, 2008 and has been in the construction industry since 1996. Jim completed Sigler Elementary School for Plano ISD and is currently working on Mendenhall Elementary School also for Plano ISD.

Jerry Hoffman, CPA – Controller
Jerry Hoffman began working for Starling Richardson in March of 2009 and is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting for our organization.
